Tim's Gift: A Personal
Approach to HIV/AIDS
Tim's Gift, is a communication workshop that takes a more personal approach to HIV/AIDS through the use of real life stories about people who have either passed away from AIDS or who are currently infected. The workshop will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., in the University Room, located to the left of the Student Life Center.
In this two-hour workshop, Christa Huffman, a Communication Studies graduate student, will tell of her family's personal struggle with cope and loss from HIV/AIDS. The workshop is named in loving memory of Christa's brother, Tim Huffman, who passed away from AIDS in 1998.
The workshop was inspired by Dawn's Gift, which is part of an educational HIV/AIDS video package created by Dawn's father, Larry Schwitters. In this video, Dawn Beckhols shares her personal story of living with AIDS. Tim's Gift aims at a similar personal approach.
