To
all of you people lucky enough
to be indoors (11/10/2004), you missed the rain but also, the Double
Rainbow.
I
photographed this one right in front of my house in West San Jose, CA.
Another
one at my house on 1/4/05. Check out the difference in fall and
winter
colors.
Hopefully I will get a spring
and summer rainbow as
well to post. One can always hope.

This is a grand and old Eucalyptus tree. It is a sentinel on one of my favorite hiking trails; Priest Rock. This tree is a landmark. It's trunk is a good 6 foot or better in diameter and if there were three of you, you would barely be able to touch fingertips around its circumference.
I always look for this tree to appear when hiking. It is so awesome. I inspect its branches for signs of birds and wild life. I also made a mega picture to try and further capture its grandeur. If you click on the picture you will see just how huge it is and you will also be able to inspect it for wild life.
The click on picture is a composite of 4 different photos, one in each quadrant of the stitched photo. In another words, 2 photos stitched together horizontally on the bottom and then two stitched together horizontally at the top and then the top is stitched to the bottom to form the resulting mega shot. I love the software you can use to do this. There is no other way you could portray this tree and still capture it's grandeur.

From a sunset in Santa Cruz on the West Cliff Drive.
A sunset from in front of my house. I love the layered contrast; the silhouette of the trees,
the brightness of the con trail, the pinks of the sunset, the deep blue sky.
